Havas Worldwide Ad Nets Apology for Racial Undertones

Actor Dennis Chew, a Chinese man, is at the center of a controversial Havas Worldwide advertisement where he portrayed a number of different characters including one in “brownface.” So reports CNN.

The Singapore advertisement was meant to promote electronic payments.

He also portrays a Malay woman in a headscarf. The ad has since been removed and Havas and Mediacorp, the entity that sponsored the advertisement, apologized.
