Watchdog Releases Explanation of Lingerie Ads, Tackles S&M, Nipple Pasties

Ad Standards released an overview of its decisions with respect to women’s lingerie after a number of complaints regarding outdoor displays. So reports Mumbrella.

Per the explanation, merely a “depiction of a person in sexy lingerie is of itself not in breach of the Code. The location of an ad and its target also impact what is, and is not, permissible under the advertising code. Suggesting women are property, certain S&M imagery and nipple pasties may also be considered in breach.
