Amazon spent $22.6 billion in research and development last year, which was a 41% increase from 2016. So reports Recode.

By pumping money into Amazon Web Services, Alexa and technology for cashier-less stores, Amazon has spent more than other companies for research and development for at least the second consecutive year.
