Holiday Shipping Volume Strains Delivery

Companies UPS and FedEx turned to rental trucks, extra aircraft, and temporary sorting facilities as large shipping volumes driven by holiday shopping pushed the companies closer to the tipping point of not being able to keep up with demand. So reports The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

While brick-and-mortar stores made aggressive promises for deliveries of purchases, online retailer Amazon has been researching if it should start its own pool of delivery trucks and aircraft.
