In a filing with the Security Exchange Commission, Alphabet says it made at least $15.15 billion in ad revenue for 2019. Alphabet has been resistant to disclose its revenue figures for both Google and YouTube. This revelation was brought about by a new rule implemented in 2017, which requires investors to receive the same financial results as the chief decision-maker at the company.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Chief Financial Officer Ruth Porat rationalized the disclosure as a way “to provide insight into our business.”
