'Sexy Ronnie' Marketing Ploy Has Japanese Consumers Up in Arms

Japanese izakaya chain Yotteba has launched an advertising campaign featuring a buff, shirtless "red-headed clown" with pubic hair that looks like French Fries coming out of a thong, much to the dismay of social media users and fans of McDonalds. So reports The Vancouver Sun.

"Say one thing about Sexy Ronnie, a creation of New York artist Wizard Skull: He’s gotten the Japanese restaurant chain more free publicity than the real Ronald McDonald would have," according to the article. The ad ploy is similar to one from KFC featuring a stripper Colonel from “Chickendales" used around Mother's Day.
